Frequently Asked Questions
Are dogs welcome?
Dogs are a huge part of Louma’s culture, and with almost 100 acres to roam, as well as miles of woodland surrounding us, this is the perfect holiday or break to spend with your pets. There is a supplementary charge per dog to cover additional housekeeping, but also includes complimentary dog bed and bowls to reduce your required packing. We are a working farm and keep livestock on site, so we do ask that you follow the on-site guidance, keeping your dogs on lead when in external areas, unless within a specifically designated area (such as the designated Dog Exercise Area) which will be marked and signposted, and to be mindful of other guests who might not love dogs as much as us. Limited to two dogs per Barn or Stable and one dog per Shepherd Hut. Unfortunately dogs are not permitted in the Main House or in the Wellness Area.
We charge £40 for one dog, or £65 for two.

Lambert’s and Coney’s Castle– These iron-age hill forts are less than a mile apart, so you can easily explore them both in a day, and are accessible on foot from Louma. Each one has a different character, but both have a rich past: constructed by the local tribe dating back some 2,500 years.
Forde Abbey House and Gardens– Throughout the centuries, Forde Abbey has played host to Cistercian monks, 19th-century philosophers and politicians, and more recently, the backdrop to the Hollywood adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s ‘Far From the Madding Crowd. With 30 acres of award-winning gardens with the highest gravity-powered fountain in England, wildflower meadows, topiary lined vistas, herbaceous borders, arboretum, bog garden, and walled kitchen garden, there is much to be explored.
Bridport– a lively and vibrant market town with a rich, rope-making heritage, Bridport also has a tremendous reputation for arts, culture, events and food, with an arts centre, independent cinema, live music venues and twice-weekly market.
Charmouth– just 3 miles from Louma, Charmouth retains an old world charm, with traditional amenities such as pubs, cafés, post office, convenience stores, newsagents, gifts, holiday goods, pharmacy, hairdressers, and a bakery. For those that would like to learn more about the fossils, and perhaps search for their own, the Charmouth Heritage Centre provide help, advice, displays and even guided fossil hunting on the beach.
Lyme Regis– regarded as the ‘Pearl of Dorset’ and renowned for its natural beauty, fossils, literary connections and extraordinarily rich heritage, it is also famous for being the birthplace of Mary Anning, one of history’s most important fossil collectors and paleontologists.
